Martin Matejka was born in Trenčianske Teplice, Slovakia, and after graduating from high school, he left to study at DAMU. While still a student, he and his classmates, along with director Jan Borna, founded the Dejvické divadlo. After several successful years there, they left together to found Divadlo v Dlouhé, where he remains active to this day and is one of the most frequently cast actors.
He has experience in front of the camera from a variety of television and film projects. Most recently, Smysl pro tumor (Czech Television, directed by Tereza Kopáčová).
Lately, he has also been writing—radio plays for Czech Radio, song lyrics, plays for children, and collaborating on children’s programs for Czech Television.
